I was having a great time fixing my web site in relation to things that I thought about as a result of Padwan's post about directories...
then I found the DMOZ forum, and I was so stoked, like in awe and all, becasue Padawan had made it sound like a challenge and sort of neat.
So they liked my two questions and put the little stick pin thing on them... but then another editor removed my signature and said I was there to advertise.
I had looked at the site before I joined, and there were a lot of signatures. What was not readily apparant was that they all belonged to editors.
So I'm less stoked now.
Now I'm thinking about the DMOZ forum thread that said it takes 3 years to get listed in DMOZ...
3 years ???
With that kind of lead time, is anything in it relevant?
And, another thread said that for each accepted site, there are 19,999,999 waiting to be reviewed. (it said something like, "no lie, more than one mathematician worked the number out")
So if the directory is that large... I mean seriously, what good is it?
Well, I called them all a White Only Lunch Counter... so I expect they will DMOT my site.
