I'm only getting about 10 unique hits a day! (excluding hits I get from forum reviews)

It's depressing.

What should I do???

site is www.hawgbuster.com

I do a hobby site so I really could care less if anyone sees it, not. I exchange links with similar sites and join webrings in my area of interest. I have announced my site in special interest forums, and when I add a tech article I announce that with a link. Of these 10 hits, how many come back? Site loyalty is as good as new hits, eventually they buy something, which is a good thing. How about a series of articles to get people hooked(sorry) and add to them so they willl come back to see what happens?

Its always going to take time for you to get a number of visitors. I remember how long it seemed when I first started.

I see you are listed in DMOZ which is a good start. This will boost your Google pagerank (I see you are already at 5 which is good), and you should start getting more hits from Google soon.

Exchanging links etc. will always help so try to find some good websites to do that with.

If I were you I'd consider an affiliate program. People like FastClicks are quite cheap to set up with. Being a shop you could offer something like 20% of the sale. Then make a load of banners and links etc. for webmasters to use. I'm sure a lot of fishing hobby sites would like to link to you if they thought they'd be getting something out of it. As you would only be paying when you made a sale, you'd really have nothing to lose!

Also, content is good (as Chuck said). It also helps to boost your Google rank.

Maybe you should also consider buying traffic from Google or Overture. Google only seems to have one paid advert for 'bait'

To see your Google Pagerank (not for actual rankings in the listings) you have to download the Google Toolbar...

Right now you don't have a rating, but that might be because you aren't listed in their directory. If you haven't already I suggest submitting your site here: http://www.google.com/addurl.html

there are many other things that you can do to improve your rankings.

optimise your site to rank better using SEO methods. Things like alt image tags, headings, targetted title tags, keyword repetition, keyword density....all help

i definatly encourage you to look for links to your site and improve them. i'm doing that right now, surfing the net to get some partners for the business that i work for to improve our rankings.

other than that, paid listings, pay for banner ads on other sites etc etc, all work. your best (and cheapest) option, is SEO and reciprocal links...get them and you'll do well.

good luck!

I have a quick fix for you: PPC (pay-per-click) traffic.
You have a fishing lure site, and I imagine that you could find a lot of $0.01 words at many of the good PPC sites. This would mean that you should get around 2500 qualified clicks for $25 :-)

I recommend Kanoodle: http://www.kanoodle.com or http://www.kanoodle.com/util/init_re...?refid=2664350 if you want to give me credit for referring you!

Check out: http://www.compareyourclicks.com to find out bids!

Not to worry, your page rank in google will be better next month. This is the version of your site google has indexed http://216.239.33.100/search?sourcei...gbuster.com%2F . When it re-indexes the new one with all the alt tags and better content, youll get some more traffic. Are you reciprocal linking? Good job on your site!

My page rank dropped a point but I'm getting better rankings in the listings - now for most of the important keywords that I wanted I'm between #20 and #30. Making my way up to the top.

Thanks for all your help guys.

i buy targeted traffic it works.
i buy targeted traffic. i don't really have a proper website i just advertise what affiliate sites i have. (the most profitable ones for me have been the casino ones)

i tried most kinds of advertising. safelists and hitexchanges but so far this company's website has been the only one which has worked well enough for me to return to them on a monthly basis.

they are at <<URL REMOVED>>

regards

Get some Link Building done for your website. Keep in mind you don't get inmto FFA links, Guestbooks Links, Link Farms, Search Engine Cloakers or anything else in search of web promotion !! They can get you blocked.

Don't ever use any SE spammming techniques. NO Hidden Links or Hidden Text. SE spiders are Intelligent !!

I use a traffic building system called ScreenBlaze it uses the power of thousands of idle computers around the world to generate awesome amounts to traffic to your website.. for free.

I think you'll love this system.

(p.s. here's a tip.. after signing up, email everyone you know who may want more traffic and tell them. This will get you even more free traffic!)
