I added a stumbleupon review on my own website. and some minutes later I suddently got 30 visitors from stumbleupon, like a quick small wave of users that visit my site, just after submission... How can this be declared? I did notice that the visitors from stumbleupon were less interested in the content due to them requesting less pages per visit...

Do you get a lot of traffic through stumbleupon?
Do you get quality traffic through stumbleupon?
Do you want to social bookmark exchange with me?

I got lots of traffic in social bookmarking sites like digg, propeller and stumble upon not to mention dozens of social bookmarking sites I joined with, the secret was gain friends with the same interest as yours.. also it is recommended to add widgets such as stumble, digg and other SB sites to our blog or webpages as this may also be another way of receiving traffic to our site.

And from this, did you actually deduce that traffic from such sources is less than useless?

those sites are great at driving traffic, but it's all pretty much junk.....I used to get 30,000 Digg hits a day w/ some post and would get just a few clicks a day....not worth the bandwidth

Which I'm sure is fine if you are running a crappy MFA site or a website overloaded with affiliate adverts.

I actually get quite a bit of traffic from stumbleupon to my blog. I have to admit though, I stumble most of the articles myself but it helps =]

I think our definition of "boom" differs greatly

They all think too small.

On one ecommerce site I used to promote we used to get 1000+ extra visitors a day in the week/10 days I promoted the "give away" competition the site ran every month. AND sales would be up at least 25-30% in that time as well.

Even when the contest had closed the traffic and sales were still coming in from the various "prize competition"/"giveaway" forums I posted at.

That was of course before "social sites" ever existed

Yeah stumbleupon can really give you tons of traffic but in terms of quality traffic I don't think it's 100% targeted traffic.

I think vistors that come from Stumble upon are always ion a hurry to get some unique thing in a website. They swiftly switch from one website to another website by making a glance and thereby making the conclusion at that time. For converting those visitors, you need to use good content in your website and your website should look impressive to the core.

No they are not in a hurry at all, and they are not looking for something unique!

they are BORED and looking for a distraction. They are not in the slightest bit interested in your page or what you are promoting. They are after the minutae and the trivial to "entertain" them for a few seconds, then they move on to the next piece of trivia.

Don't be ridiculous. ANY traffic is NOT "good" traffic. Good traffic is comprised of visitors who actually take the action that your page requires them to do, NOT random bunches of junk visitors that just might happen to click on the right thing by accident!!

I think StumbleUpon is an excellent bookmarking site. It provides decent traffic and has a targeted user base.

Targeted??? are you kidding????

The StumbleUpon "userbase" are mostly bored people who are simply looking for something to distract them for a few seconds.
