Naming your newsletter is probably one of the more important things you can do as you begin deploying a newsletter campaign so be sure to think it through before choosing a name for your newsletter. Here are some things to consider along the way.
Brainstorm A List
Come up with a working list of names that might be right for you. Get this list as large as possible, but think of at least 25. Don't filter yourself, just
write every name that comes to mind, no matter how bad you know it is (you can always cross it out later), just write it down.
Ideas For Names
A.Your Niche - this is one of the most common ones, what is your little niche?
- Golf Tip Insider
- Sports Bra Enthusiast
- Link Builders 101
B.Your Target Audience - who you are trying to reach is an important factor. The more professional an audience, ie, scientists, doctors, etc., the more professional sounding your newsletter should be and will often have the word 'newsletter' in it. Inversely, the more relaxed your content, the more playful your name should be. For the latter audience try to come up with a catchy name that involves a pun. People love a good pun. Or put an 'O' at the end of anything.

Refine Your List
You should have a few names by now. Start to cross out the ones that are definite no's. Keep in mind that shorter names are better because they are easier to remember. The fewer the words, the more punch it has. Now that you know the feel you are going for, come up with a few more names. Search ezine directories for names to help with inspiration.
Select The Finalist
Cut your list down to 3 or 4 final names. Ask for advice on a forum, or ask your friends and family which they like the best.
Choose The Darn Name Already
There you go, you have a newsletter name.
