Is there a max bid you will ppc for adwords terms. I understand a broad targeted approach for less targeted keywords is ideal, but what type of bidding strategy and tactics do you all use? Many comments and views welcomed and appreciated.

The amount you end up bidding will depend on the campaign you are running. The more competitive the keyword, the more you will have to spend in order to get your ad enough impressions to get clicked on. In these cases, it is best to look at long tail's in order to bring down the costs.
To generic. Obviously the "ideal bid" is the one that gets you the highest conversion with the least expense.
You have to look at a lot of factors.
how much is a conversion worth?
what is the rate of conversion for a given ad?
what percentage of gross profit (add-to-conversion) do you need for a net profit?
will the net profit be enough to make it worth your time?
But, you already have all of that information in your business plan. right?
yeah I guess I need to really be sure my landing pages are optimized the absolute best layout for conversions, because at even cheap clicks 20cents can be expensive without conversions. This is tough

Depending on your capital backing is how you should really choose your max keyword bid. If you are on a budget try looking into more long term keywords, 4 or 5 words. If you are just now joining Adwords, please, do not bid with broad term keywords - it is a waste of money.
And yes, this is tough.
Good luck!
