how much to charge for advertising on my website

Hi

I have just recieved an email from a company who wants to advertise on my website for a year. They want a text only advert and want to know the cost.

How much should i charge for this?

These are the things that might influence how much you can charge:

how much traffic your site gets
PR (some people buying links are impressed by this)
your site's audience (schoolkids don't tend to own credit cards)
how stable your site is. A site with a 10 year history of high traffic will command a higher price than a brand new site
etc

So, without knowing all the details that affect pricing, I'd suggest charging around $30 / month.

Hey, just a quick question: how exactly are you going about selling your ad space? I'm trying to sell ad space by directly calling the companies I want to sell to and its not really working out.

I've seen some places recently on digital point that are selling space and I guess the fact that they are new is what cuts the revenue in half but this place had at least 10k uniques and 70k page views per day for around 30 - 60 per month. The website is http://www.gamekiller.net

If the email came from a company called LinkStar or "Linkstar media" just ignore it and delete the email.

And remember. NO reputable company would or should be sending you unsolicited messages.
