I have a serious dating site with PR5. Ratio is 70% females / 30% males.
How can I improve my male ratio, get better traffic?

I do not really consider Google advertising as I think, but I might be mistaken, in this case most of the traffic will come from other dating sites and not necessary with higher PR.
Any advices are highly appreciated.

Considering most dating sites have the opposite ratio, I'd think all you'd have to do is advertise the M/F ratios and you'd have tons of men joining.

Yes willcode4beer makes a good point...the high female to male ratio should attract more males in time.

If you really do need more male traffic, spend some time building links from male dominated topic websites....cars, video games, sports, etc. Comment on male specific blogs and post in male dominated forums.

Other than that, you could try to target some keywords specific to men: online dating for men, dating tips for men, etc.

That is a good suggestion. I also suggest join to bar forums and if you want gambling forums where 99 % of members are male.

Link exchanging won't get you signups. Placing well thought out advertising links in the right places will.

Dating sites are by their very nature "social" sites, but the whole marketplace is massively oversubscribed with hundreds of thousands of non-entity "turnkey" affiliates just clogging the system up.
Now if your site has a USP (Unique Selling Proposition/Point). In your case currently this will be the disparity of the sexes.
Turn this to your advantage! Most of the dating site operators are pretty clueless when it comes to promoting, and all they do is join forums and either drop links, which gets them banned, deleted or severely censored making the whole thing ineffective and labour intensive. "Machine Gun" advertising. Spray the crowd with adverts and hope the odd ricochet hits the right target!
Now if only they had a clue about human nature and using that nature to their advantage!

which is almost how to handle it, BUT we lose the "building links" but and turn it into building CONVERSIONS!!

Human beings have a curious nature, so you have to pique that curiosity, but don't go to the "male dominated topic websites" and post links in the hope that someone will click it, don't even have a signature link at first.
Go and play on the male psyche. Ask them what would make them sign up at a dating site. Use this as market research, be open about why you want to know but let them ASK for the site name / address. And of course study the answers and see what you can apply.

tip for this forum (and others), now we know you're not just another drive by spammer. Create yourself a signature but don't go the keyword route with "country/county/town dating", that's boring and predictable, be creative.
"Man Wanted! Apply Here" for example.

BTW if you have just another dating site the above still applies but it will just be a little more difficult.

I am not a dating spammer, and the reason I did not put a signature before, I need help and advice and not “cheap” ways to advertise. I know that I do not have enough experience in advertising, marketing, etc. and here are people for whom these words are not just words…
I am the only owner of my dating site and it is alive for around 8 years already. The reason I survived and managed to grow, gives me a hope that I am doing things correctly, but maybe not so efficient. I am trying to give better services instead of using cheating methods with publishing fake model pictures on the home page. Now, when I invested a lot of money in a new design, script, development, etc. I am ready to give efforts in promoting, because I truly believe that I can offer a good service. My agency has a very good reputation, women trust me, men are satisfied and give me good references. I can prove my work by real pictures of real couples who found each other in my agency and I think not many can provide it.

Ignore the dating sites and forums, just about everyone I have ever "spoke to" in the dating market are obsessed with links and PR, very few of them have the imagination to different, and because siteX has 100,000 backlinks they believe that their site also needs 100,000 backlinks (or more) to be successful.

Much of successful marketing is about having the balls to do the unexpected. If you choose to be one of the "sheeple" you have to work harder than the ones in front just to catch up.
You can be mediocre (or learning) when you have a different focus yet still be successful.

try to think with stereotypes. You want to attract males, post in the off topic section of forums of soccer/rugby/baseball/hockey..., cars, video games, motorbike etc...

After that, you need to think about your target demographic as well and go from there.

I have been in a discussion with one of the moderators. I tried to explain that I would like to know the opinion of the men what do they look for on dating sites, what kind of features, etc. That I did not mention the name of the dating site, url, or the country the site is located. It was no info at all, just some questions for the men.
I really wanted to learn better, what else can I offer. etc
they agreed with me that yes, maybe I am telling the truth, but they are afraid it is spam.
What is the point to have off topic on forums, if you can not discuss off topic there?!

Then be a little smarter than they think you are

become a "good" member of the forums, build up the "trust" with the members and mods.
There will be threads you can offer opinions on, chatty threads you can join in with etc. Might take a couple of months at that particular forum, in the mean time, find others and do the same.
