You don't need to submit your site to search engines. Just get links - same result only faster.

Hand Submission to the major search engines is all you need to do.. Link exchanges will help you get Page rank and eventually get your listings higher up in google and in the other search engines

Manual search engine submission takes time. Automated Submission is okay, just be aware that many reputable automated submission providers try to screen spam sites, but sometimes you still get spam email after you submit your site. To avoid this problem, use an alternate email address when you use automated submission tools.

You don't need to submit to the major search engines. They will follow your links (like the ones in your signature here) and index your site.

Submission is, for the most part, a waste of time.

so do you submission guru's steer clear of WebPosition and the like? Is manual submission REALLY best over this automated software that touts it's success to get sites listed?

Just exchange links with other sites that are regulary crawled by the major search engines and you will soon get your site listed within the search engines.

It's not as simple as that for my site. Being of the adult nature, not all sites "want" to link exchange with me. As far as linking with other "adult" sites, mine is far more mild or "soft" if you will as it caters to married couples. Other adult sites are far more "hard" than the content on my site however, it is still difficult to get the "appropriate" link exchange.

But my questions was more about the automated submission software. Is it worth using or is the manual submission better?

I manually add all my links as I built my own scripts. But I can tell you now, doing it feels like it is more trouble than it's worth as I seem to be adding links all the time and I'm not really seeing much if no improvements in my traffic. But in the long run I know that it's worth it as you will slowly see the results.

Also, there are billions of sites on the Web so you are bound to find quite a few that should be related to your sites topic. There may not be as many as other topics, like hosting, affiliate programs, etc. But you are likely to find at least a few.

I saw a site that had no keywords, no content and only had two other links to his site. But, he had a google PR of 3! The only thing he had that could account for this was goodleadword advertisement banner on his page (just one). I thought that was interesting!

PR of 3 is not all that good. I think a PR of 3 is around about average or maybe even alittle lower than that.

If the two sites that was linking to his site where his page was listed had a good PR of about 5 or six then that would not his PR straight up to 3.

That's why it's very good to exchange links with sites that will put your site on a high PR page of their sites.

It just seems to take forever for Google to update the PR. I've added quite a few backlinks to a site and for a couple of months now the PR is only 1.

You will probably have to wait another 2 - 4 months before the next Google PR update as they normally do it every 3 months and the last Google PR update was not all that long ago.

I don't think PR was updated as it was only updated about 2 weeks to a month ago. You will probably have to wait another 2 to 3 months before that gets updated again on the Google Toolbar.

Don't think so. PR and backlinks don't update at the same time.
