I have made a web design studio, but don't know how to establish a "name" for it out in the world wide web.

How would you suggest bringing short-term and long-term traffic to the site?

I am currently making a really nice re-design for the site, but I really need the traffic for it to make a difference.

Any tips?

I was looking at your site, and it seems like you probably don't just want a bunch of random traffic. I'm guessing that you would be better off with visitors who are looking for your services.

You might want to write some articles about web design and try to get them linked to from blogs, or on digg, etc or even published in newspapers, etc. You might also want to try some adwords type stuff, but bidding on web design keywords might be fairly high if you're just starting out.

OK, thanks for the advice. I'll start writing some articles tommorow!

How much traffic do you think a well-written, extensive tutorial will net? Something graphics related. Like making a layout in Photoshop?

Think about who you're trying to sell to, and then figure out where they spend
their time online, then pay for some advertising there.

You might want to try and hit the local market in your area - get on the local
radio and in the local papers. If you have to pay for classifieds then go for it,
but it would be better if you could get a feature done about your services.

I would also recommend building your portfolio. Use sites like RentACoder.com
and ScriptLance.com to find clients. Plus, clients often refer their friends, so
business grows naturally.

Good luck!
