What will be the best method to advertise, with the best result ratio, with the least amount of money spent?

I think the best methods are the ones that involve you.
Getting involved in forums like this and running a link exchange program or submitting directories can be very effective and don't cost much (or any) money.

I currently pay very little for any traffic, and mostly all of it is targeted. There are many ways to produce free targeted traffic.
I agree, with the person who said being active in forums. All that sort of stuff is nice.
Also...
Just one of my main traffic sources comes from finding holes in niche markets and exploiting them by using higher powered sites all for free. After months of research, I have developed several techniques for free traffic generation that go way beyond posting classifieds and/or other schemes like link exchanges.
Google is very receptive if you know how to use it to your advantage it can get you a long ways ahead of your competition.
my methods of market research have produced more traffic and sales for me than any adwords campaign, believe it or not.. (and trust me I'm a qualified adwords user).
The main thing is you've got to get creative.
For example:
I've never done this, but I imagine it would produce some results. Have you ever thought about going into somewhere like Best Buy and setting all the computers' home pages to your website...
Just a glimpse into my wondering mind - lol...
gl,
Bryan

For the rest of your comment, will you share some tips? You sound highly qualified

Nicely done  .. Do you remember any results?
Concerning your question:
I have to tell you, if I could explain just one of my strategies in a single post, it would have to be a long one.
Basically, I concentrate on techniques that produce long-term results. Personally I feel like I'm wasting time if something I'm doing to produce traffic will only last two weeks. I focus on strategies that produce for lack of a better term, "residual traffic"... Meaning I do one thing that I can finish in a fair amount of time (usually at the most an hour), that will then produce targeted traffic for months, not weeks to come.
I mean I could tell you to put your links in directories, use classifieds, etc.. but everyone is already doing that. Don't get me wrong I do use some of these sources but in VERY different way.
I have released just one of my strategies (Cashless Marketers Secrets) that I used in an expiriment/case study, in which I did not allow myself to spend even one dime on anything, advertising, web hosting, nothing. I take that back I had a domain but it was already registered so technically I started out with a total net value of $7.99 - lol...
It was fun for me to actually go back to right when I started Affiliate marketing, and had no money whatsoever.. I wish I could have found me 3 years ago, ..
Long story, short - by a little over 30 days I had generated almost $1800 - all profit. All affiliate marketing based...
Needless to say, after that, this technique became a regular and a favorite in my arsenal. I even hesitated releasing it because it's been so profitable for me.
If I could stress anything enough, it would be market research. High demand, low supply (simple economics)..
Nothing can beat it, when combined with appropriate techniques.

Yes that is the one I was speaking of, although a powerful strategy I have developed several more that even surpass this technique in effectiveness. I hope you enjoy, and be sure to check back in. The site is currently going through some major changes.

Ugh. Just typed a mini-novel and my friend decided to close the browser. :cursing: I'll try to sum it up again.
Really what works best for you is going to depend very much on the type of site as well as your resources and knowledge in the market. Timing can also be crucial - being the first has some definite benefits.
Bmc emphasizes getting creative and I fully agree. There are a lot of basic ways to promote online - SEO, link exchange, directories, etc. Reaching your target market with an effective message and a strong conversion strategy is really the key set of steps though. Creating unique incentives and finding the most direct and effective ways of reaching a target audience within your niche are where you should get creative and explore the possibilities.
In my experience it is wise to use several methods of promotion in your overall strategy, but it's important not to "spread yourself thin" doing 1,000 things and never doing them well. Focus on a couple key strategies and monitor results regularly, adjusting your strategy as you grow.
So find out where your audience is, and reach out to them. Once they are on your site, conversion comes down to ad layout and the type of visitor.

Test. Test. Test. As several posters in this thread pointed out, it really depends on the product/service you're selling and the market you want to reach. Some people get great results with PPC while others do not. Sometimes it's their lack of expertise and other times it's just the product/service itself that does not sell well via PPC. The same goes for just about any other marketing/advertising medium. Some will work for you while others will not. I suggest you study what your competitors are doing. Where are they advertising? What is their primary message in their ads? Analyze their site thoroughly. Take a peek at the keywords on their home page and source code. Search Google and PrWeb for press releases they may be putting out and use them as examples to write one of your own, but better.

If it's an adsense website, (Income targetted from displaying ads), you must seriously consider digging into a niche.
Do a little article submission of content similar to that on your website, (not the one on your site... may lead to duplicate content penalty).
Tell all your friends about it, they tell to more friends. Word of mouth advertising is the best!

Have you ever heard about hidden smart marketing? Such as forums, blogs, communities live and credible discussion? Check my sig for example. Any market is available. For now financial market only. It's not an ad. Try to Google these words. Tomorrow is with it because of the users got really tired with default ways to advertise...

best free way to advertise? get 500 free impressions from a banner swap that sends traffic to your aff landing page. make the banner really smart ad-copy.
best cheap way: ppc. you can track it, you can see what keywords convert, limit costs. it's the ultimate keyword research tool, bc you know what keywords to seo for, and what users want in terms of content (read: ad copy)

My best method in advertising A forum is forum posting, signatures, SEO and buying ad spots on sites with traffic, not just PR.
