I was working online part time since my college career in 1997. I developed hobby pages and helped write for various online communities (mainly gaming ones). I graduated in 2002 from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and pursued a career in the field of Engineering. While having great success and moving up the ladder in Engineering, in my part time I still pursued online ventures with only minor successes until 2004 I started to find out not only could I create popular websites and get them ranking in the search engines but I could make good money. My main site that took off was All Free Magazines, a site for free magazine subscriptions all in one place. As I loved free magazines but had to visit several sites to find the latest offers so I decided to start a site for me and my friends to keep track of which offers where available. From there I started submitting to directories telling friends about it etc.. Before I knew it I went from 10 visitors a day to 2000. Through link building and people starting to link to my site, I know rank #1 for Free Magazines. Even more importantly than that is what I learned from starting up All Free Magazines was the great money that can be made through affiliate marketing. Before I go more into that I also want to state that I made mistakes, In addition to starting up the free magazine website I started up another website, only to find out that there was VERY little traffic for this keyword like 5 searches a day but yet I had put over a month of work into it. But I learned from it to know verify traffic searches for certain keywords and topics. Back to affiliate marketing, I started learning by driving traffic to my free magazine site with adwords. Then started dabbling in ringtones, dating and other niches with that my online hobby grew larger and larger until in 2006 I had to decide to either continue to pursue my career in Engineering or go full time with my online business. Thanks to a supportive wife and after much prayer, I gave my two weeks notice at my engineering job. Before I resigned from Engineering work in 2006 I created the company Adams Media LLC. In addition to starting up Adams Media LLC I also started my blog Cpa-affiliates.com where I talk about what I do online and try to provide tips and information. I would have to say the biggest thing leading up to quitting your day job is have all your ducks in a row, be passionate about what you are doing and lastly realize that there is big risk in leaving your day job… BUT if for some reason you do fail your day job in some shape or form will most likely still be there! Here is the numbers part to go with the inspiration, I basically started in 2004 and every year since then I have increased my profit by 40% or more!
