How to do W3D Validation?

Hi all,

I am new in HTML can anybody tell how Validate My website with W3C standerds?

If you want to validate your site, you can run it through their checker: http://validator.w3.org/

This will also let you know if you're missing a doctype, or any other errors that your site has.

I was very concerned with my sites being validated until I ran a few popular sites through the validation. They didn't pass either.

It's not about whether or not other sites validate, it's about what you want to do with your website. Why follow the trend of having a site that doesn't validate to a certain standard, just because someone else's site doesn't?

That's the wrong mentality. Think for yourself.

You can also get a quick view of whether or not your pages validate if you use Firefox and get the HTML Tidy extension. You'll see an indicator right in your status bar that will tell you whether or not your page is valid based on the doctype specified in your code. I would also recommend the Web Developer extension and FireBug.

I would also recommend the Web Developer extension for Firefox.
It has a lot of nice tools and quick commands to make your web design a lot easier, such as outlining block elements, displaying element information to see where and how CSS are inherited, etc. It also has quick links to all the validators such as HTML, CSS, and links to check for any broken links.
It's an absolute must for any web designer.

If you notice they say they are new to html....
I just thought that maybe they were not aware that validation isnt so wide spread. They didnt say "I am entering a web design contest requiring all entries to be validated" or anything.
I was really worried when I first started out that my site was not validated. I thought I was doing something seriously wrong. If no one tells you it's not that big of a deal, you might not ever know. I was just trying to be helpful.

Both of my sites do pass validation but ..... does it really matter with search engines?
