But anyway so when I want to make changes to the main and subsequently the category page, which file do i make changes to.

I am just not seeing how what you have done will let me make changes to the main and then those changes will appear on the category page. I am just not see that.

the header and footer files contain all the same aspect of codes. Change them to change the whole site.

Chage the main and category page to change those little bits.

I suggest learning a little php if you are going to copy and paste it. It's good toknow what you are doing even in small amounts.

ARRRGGGG, I am just so confused. So both the main page and all my category pages should have all of the html and the little bit of php with the include line, right?


So then if I make a change to the main page, say i make the background color different, you are telling me that the category page will change as well, with out me changing it. I just don't see how that would work.

No if you make ANY change to the header and footer files they both propgate to both the main page and the category pages.

Oh, ok so I should have 4 files, right? main category header and footer. So the include header.php that should be the path to header.php right?

yes. And if you have more than one category you are going to need those pages as well.
