I am trying to accomplish something very simple, however I can't seem to find the correct way to make this work.

I need to have a password form field on my site. When the user enters the correct password they would be taken to a specific page.

Here is an example:

www.palmerteam.com

On the left there is client services, I need to do the exact same thing on my site but with only one form.

Does anyone know if there is a simple way to do this?

Thank you in advance for any help!!

The easiest way to password protect web pages is to use JavaScript. This is not very secure though. That appears to be what The Palmer Team is using for their password protection.

You can find many of these scripts here: http://javascript.internet.com/passwords/

If you are concerned with security I would suggest using a PHP password script. These are much more secure than JavaScript.

You can find many of these here: http://hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_an...ion/index.html

Javascript? Secure? Do you leave your front door wide open when you go out of the house?

Whats your server OS? There's various ways to have password protection. PHP is one of them, but will only work if you have PHP available. If you could outline your needs a little more (Is it just one admin loggin in or multiple users? Do you want them to be able to sign up or do you want to set them up youself?) then we can advise you a little more on a soloution.

If you want simple, but yet secure - Try using .htaccess and .htpasswd user authintication (of course if server is running Apache).

Thanks everyone for your replies.

We are actually going to do something very similar to what the palmer team is doing. We have real estate properties for sale, and want people with the "password" to be able to access them. We plan to email the password out so there is no need for them to create an account. This also does not need to be very secure, just not "readily" avaliable to the general public.

I am familiar with .htaccess, but am unsure about how this can be accomplished using the single form field...

I am going to check out the sites you all provided.

Thanks.
