Table problems

I am new to coding html. I am building a website with a banner links page. The links are arranged in a table within a division. The table and division both have ending tags. I am trying to code a link to a second links page, but everytime the link ends up within the table. How do I solve this?

I'm not quite sure I follow. Is there a link we could see? If not then could you post the code? It will be much easier trying to figure out what's going on that way.
