Right click code is bothe irritating and pretty useless. Images can be downloaded by a whole host of other means (browser cache, viewing source, disableing javascript, etc)

The best way to protect images is to watermark them. If you have a server side language available (ASP.NET, ASP, PHP, ISAPI, etc) you can probably find a script to automatically watermark images as they downloaded. (I wrote on in ASP.NET if you want it)

If you still want no-right-click code after reading that, see http://javascript.internet.com/page-...ght-click.html

I agree with Minaki about the right click menus. Just going to keep people away from your site and it really won't prevent anyone from copying the images.

Truth is the only way to absilutely prevent someone from copying your images is not to put it online. Once I can see it in my browser it's already been downloaded into cache on my computer.

Try the watermarks. People will still be able to download the images, but the watermarks will keep people from using them.

I don't know how to explain it in any more simple terms than they have... ecxep that you don't really need to carry out step 2. If you just copy & paste the code into your <head>, it should just work...

You don't really need to even be 'tech savvy' to steal images. Anyone with more than 1/2 a braincell can do it. Firefox even makes it really easy... (Go to Tools, Page Info and select the Media tab - gives you a nice list & preview of all the images plus the option to save them)

A watermark is a mark on the image which declares it as yours, for example a slightly transparent grey stamp across the image saying "Copyright © YourName 2006"

Here's a bit of an over the top example:

You can still see the image, but if you wanted to copy it and pass it off as your own you'd have a great deal of difficulty.
