I have set up a blog (http://etybagem.blogspot.com/) and included Google web and site search using code supplied by Google, which I presume is standard, with my just needing to change by adding my web address in two places and "My Blog" in one to indicate the radio button to click if the search is of my site and not the web. It seems easy enough, but the search of my site always produces a failure to 'match any documents' even though I know the word is on my site and the spelling is correct. Below is the code that I use. Please can anyone tell me if there is an error in it and, if so, how to fix it.
Thanks
Etybagem

<!-- SiteSearch Google -->
<FORM method=GET action="http://www.google.com/search">
<TABLE bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><tr><td>
<A HREF="http://www.google.com/">
<IMG SRC="http://www.google.com/logos/Logo_40wht.gif"
border="0" ALT="Google"></A>
</td>
<td>
<INPUT TYPE=text name=q size=31 maxlength=255 value="">
<INPUT type=submit name=btnG VALUE="Google Search">
<font size=-1>
<input type=hidden name=domains value="http://etybagem.blogspot.com"><br><input type=radio name=sitesearch value=""> The Web <input type=radio name=sitesearch value="http://etybagem.blogspot.com" checked> My Blog <br>

</td></tr></TABLE>
</FORM>

try waiting for the google spider too come to your site. the results may take up to 1 month depending how long it takes for it too pick it up. Linking from websites that are already on google are a good way to help it go to your site.

While I knew that one had to wait for Google to trawl for a site before adding it, I thought that it would work straight away where you ask it to search only your own site. I actually dumped Google in favour of Yahoo 'web & site' search as Yahoo included my blog in a WWW search. However, I found since the change that Yahoo! also ignores a search of my own site - frustrating.
Incidentally, if you want to search Google and Yahoo simultaneously and see the results on a split screen insert
<form method="get" action="http://yagoohoogle.com/search.php"><input type="text" name="q"/><input type="submit" value="Search YaGoohoo!gle"/></form>
on your site.
I found the code on http://yagoohoogle.blogspot.com/

I think that actually including a google search on your blog without permission is illegal at this time. I recently went to their site, and found that it's now <i>very</i> expensive to include a google search button to your site. But, for private use it may be free.

A blog, not blodge is a interactive webpage that allows users to post comments on it for other users to view. One very popular one is http://www.xanga.com/. An example of a contemporary blog would be http://www.xanga.com/godroxmyworld06 (That's mine btw, so props for myself ^_^)

Most search engines allow you to add code to your web-site that places a search box on your page. If you look at my blog (http://etybagem.blogspot.com/) you see an example of a Yahoo! web and site search - Yahoo! supply the code free for use on private web-sites. See http://uk.search.yahoo.com/info/uk/tools.html where the code they give is:
<!-- Yahoo! Search -->
<form method=get action="http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/ukie" style="border:1px solid #999; padding:5px;/*/*/width:390px;/**/text-align:center;">
<a href="http://uk.search.yahoo.com/">
<img src="http://eur.i1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/i/uk/se/m/uksb.gif" width=99 height=33 align="left" border=0></a>
<input type="text" name="p" size=29>
<input type="hidden" name="fr" value="yscpb">
<input type="submit" value="Search"><br><font size="-2" face="arial, helvetica"><input type="radio" name="vs" value="" id="ysvs0" style="vertical-align: middle" checked><label for=ysvs0>Search the web</label> <input type="radio" name="vs" id="ysvs1" style="vertical-align: middle" value="YOUR SITE DOMAIN"><label for=ysvs1 style="margin-right: 75px;">search this site</label></font>
</form>
<!-- End Yahoo! Search -->
You change YOUR SITE DOMAIN to, e.g. http://etybagem.blogspot.com/ and that's it. My first post gave the code for Google. The web search works immediately, but, as said earlier, it seems that you need to wait for a Google or Yahoo! 'spider' to visit your site to obtain the information to search your own site. I have no idea how long that takes.
Not that I'm advertising, but if you visit my blog you will spot an icon at the top that allows you to set up your own blog, with a variety of all templates supplied to those who don't want to do everything themselves - many if not most seem to create their own page design.
