If you could choose just one smartphone to test your websites on, which one would it be? I can't buy a lot of phones, but I need to test my alternative, small screen website versions.

I just co-erce friends and family with various phones to see what a site looks like.

what machine are you running on. i've developed ipad specific sites but i don't own an ipad at all

on my mac: download xcode which has an ipad/iphone simulator who's functionality and browser is 100% match to the actual device and has a print simulator as well

eclipse + android sdk allows to emulate all versions of released android

On my pc: I can't emulate ios but still can do android


Non of my clients have ever paid to consider Blackberry nor symbian

personal advice, don't buy a phone just to do testing because its software and hardware is not timeless. use what you own and have.

Personally I suggest testing on a pc using mobile browser emulators.

The best smartphone to test your websites on, is all of them. Use a mobile phone simulator like mobilizer

I am new to mobile application testing. Not sure about the smartphone however different mobile application testing tools might make it easier for you to test websites. Try eggPlant.

I would suggest you to go with I-Pad because i when a website comes all well in I-pad it would work fine in all phones and devices but when the website is ugly on I-pad then it may be the same in all other Tabs.

Not true.

Most of the people use microsft operating systems out there. I will recommend you to use Windows Phone to check mobile version of your website. It can be beneficial for you...

I agree with using the mobile simulators. But, I suggest you find out what your target demographic is using as well. This will help you prioritize what you should be testing first.

iOS and Android OS are the only game in town.

For Android devices I would use a Nexus device. They are good to rest pages. bu you also need an iPhone. Maybe a windows phone is an good idea, too.

It's a good question. I visit my site from various Android devices that differ in size and iPhones and all of them bring up a different look when I search for my site. Sometimes it fits on the page, sometimes the device will only show potions and you have to scroll. But I have noticed one thing: from inside the post, my pages seem to all look very similar which is great, and really that's what matters most. So I don't think there is much difference, but I would choose iPhone just because it seems to be in that middle size and also is used by lots of people. Android might be more popular than iPhone, but there are lots of different sized Android phones. It just depends on your budget I guess. Also they say 2013 is they year of picking themes that work for all platforms including computers, laptops, tablets and mobiles. Something to keep in mind when choosing a theme!

I suggest any Android mobile because Android mobiles are the popular smart phone used by large amount of people.

Personally, I use Ripple (Beta) for Chrome to test websites for responsiveness and 'feel'.
