Wordpress pages ARE "Static" HTML once they are displayed in a browser.

If you're just getting started (which I assume you are), and just want to get a web site up there, go with wordpress. If you want to learn how to build web sites, you're going to need to learn HTML

It's like you're asking what should I choose: a car or a bicycle. If you need to go from NY to DC, you can try a bicycle but... it will take a long time.

So, if you need a blog, you can have a static xHTML site, but if will be harder to keep it up to date. If you need a simple 2 page site, you can have a wordpress but the main functionality (admin and blog posts) will be useless after you insert your first 2 records.

Well, wordpress is blogging platform and website in WP is easy to handle wrt to static HTML site. HTML site is very hard to update and manage (expert-level skills are required for HMTL site maintenance)

As gwv2 says that right.

HtML is basic language used for building site and now in this more enhanced version has launched HTML 5 so all these are used for site building.

But if you want to just start it leaving this HTML part apart coz it require knowledge then go for Wordpress.

The choice depends on you.In static web sites, there is no user interaction. They are designed just to provide some information to the users.Dynamic web sites are user interactive. The examples of the Dynamic web sites are CMS. WordPress is an example of the CMS.They are very easy to design. They are open source. So, you can download the components from the Internet any time.

In many cases, WordPress makes it easier to add new features later. There are plugins out there for almost any feature you can imagine.

Wordpress is a CMS. CMSs create HTML, and HTML is always static. You might be getting HTML confused with HTML DOM (Document Object Model), which is basically Javascript changing the HTML. The HTML is still static; there are no variables in HTML, but HTML can easily be manipulated by many other markups or languages.

i've built entire ecommerce sites by hand, scripting each character in a library of hundreds and eventually thousands of products. It's the hard road for sure. but a great learning experience. I've modified sql databases as well, and I'm here to tell you, it's not something for the faint of heart.

it's nice to know how to go into the editor on occasion and modify a file to tweak a page or feature ... but if it's true dynamic functionality you want from your blog or website without all the fuss and mess, go with a content management system like wordpress. It does a better job of handling your content and lets not forget, google loves wordpress (and especially the wp "all in one seo pack" ... .)

good luck

Both have no issues with Search Engines and WP gives you chance to concentrate on content than fixing HTML bugs or making HTML cross browser...

If you want to create a blog, then Wordpress will be the best for you, but if you are planning to create a simple business website, static pages in html are way better. But I still encourage you to take wordpress, it can do all your stuff and if you want to integrate more features to your website, it will be better and faster with wordpress.

I prefer a more professional content management system like Drupal over the noob-friendly Wordpress and Joomla content management systems. While Drupal is more complex and thus harder to understand and work with along with optimize for search engines, the level of customization and overall capabilities are far superior in comparison to Joomla and Wordpress. Joomla and Wordpress also handle high page counts and high traffic very poorly in comparison to the ultimately more stable Drupal.

Also guys, I'm pretty sure one person telling him that the HTML output by a CMS is static is enough, there's no need to drive the nail deeper into the board than it needs to go.
