how do i make a splash page like this

i want a splash page to pop up before my index.html loads. how can i create this ?

index.html would be your splash page so you have to replace it.

depends on how much access you have to the server.

index.html is one of the default filenames that is served out when the the URL ([www.] or server.tld is requested. So unless you have the access to change that or change the order you don't have any options.

you could edit the .htaccess file to go to the other page..but WTH do you want a splash page for???

basically theres an important anouncement he wants all his clients to be aware of that needs to be up for 24 hours.

put the announcement in the index page somewhere..?? or else I'd edit the .htaccess file so it goes to the page you want viewed first, then put a link to the home page on the new page..

i've said that to him but he's stubborn and wants a splash page. what exactly do i edit in the .htaccess?

Add

DirectoryIndex filename.ext index.htm index.html index.php

where filename.ext is your "splash page"

Bear in mind this WILL affect all subdirectories on the site.

omg hahahahah!!!

your client or whoever is stubborn because he probably was introduced to the internet when every website had a splash page so he's still stuck thinking its cool
