I am working as a web-design trainee. Recently I added a blog (wordpress) to a site which is developed in simple HTML. ( you can see the website at www .newgenresoft.com - Designed totally using simple html). But while i tried to give links like blog/index/sample-post.htm its not working. Still now it is showing the "blog/?p=123" like links. Could you tell me what is wrong? See the blog at <link drop removed>

flek, did you also update .htaccess file with URL rewrite rules?

u can change the parameter in admin area,i forgot the name.You can try to searching at google.You will find the solution

To create pretty URL's you need to go to the admin panel and go to Settings -> Permalinks then choose a structure.

Your page "should" update with a notification that the .htaccess file was updated for you. If not, you'll need to do it manually.

Permalinks do work great on apache/Linux servers. Windows servers may not be a completely "pretty" permalink.

Yeah, windows server hosted sites can't be changed to pretty permalinks easily. I was fed up of the issue and left it just like that. Soon will be changing to linux.

It's nothing do with Windows vs *nix, Apache on Windows can use htaccess as well as Apache on *nix.

Apache on a Windows System.

Kind of like using "I Can't Believe it's not Butter" on a Baked Potato.
