I'm Jamie-Grace and I need some help with Network Building - fast!

I run an organization for teens with Tourette Syndrome, like myself, called "teensWts" (Go figure, lol.) and I'm looking to expand it and make it network type site but not just for Tourette Syndrome.

I want people to be able to join and create profiles with some of the profiles being "fan profiles" and some of them being profiles for organizations that people can "become fans of". So it would sort of be like how MySpace has music profiles and regular ones and the people with the regular accounts can be fans of the bands except I want my site to be organizations instead of music.

I don't know how much time or money (if any money is needed..hopefully not, ha.) this type of thing would take, but I would really appreciate any type of advice in the area. I have been trying to do this for months now and I can't seem to get a good response as far assistance.

I think this type of project would be pretty massive. That might be why you haven't gotten very good responses yet. I think this kind of site would take quite a bit of time and/or money and I don't think you will be able to achieve your goal with just HTML.
The first thing you would need to do is decide on what type of server side programming language you are going to use (i.e. php, asp, coldfusion). Then you will need to plan out exactly what you want the users to be able to do. I see you want them to have a profile. I would take this as the first step and program or pay someone else to program a profile and login page.

What you would like sounds like a great idea, but also requires a great deal of work. It depends also though on what you already have done. What's the current website URL? Do you have users logging in/interacting already? If not, then yes, it will be a good amount of work . It's certainly do-able and I am sure there are tons of programmers out there who would like to take a crack at it. Reminds me of Facebook's Fan/Pages feature as well.

There are deffinetly ton's of programmer's out there that Love this type of Job that youre asking for. Doing a Job like this would take a good amount of work and alot of $$. I hope to see Youre site Up one day i would like to see how it turns Out

I do have a lot of people interactive with the site, and when I expand I will be getting an additional domain name, but I will more than likely maintain at least 200 of my current "supporters" of my website.

Joomla has a social networking plugin though doesn't it?

You can always purchase a solcial networking program to install on your server. Just google social networking program or social networking scripts. There are several out there just like MySpace.

Sorry to disapoint you but It seems pretty harsh. you will need a lot of webprograming skills and even ready scripts won't help you a lot if you don't know how to manage them?

Good cause and the idea is excellent however as a few suggested, its going to be a massive project. between the database requirements and the interaction between the client and server side, your looking at spending a lot of time trying to get it to work if your doing it from scratch...

Paying for a script / developer would be much easier on you but it can be very expensive... I would say you should maybe find sponsors to support your cause so you can complete you project unless you have a good background in serverside programming.
