Hi guys,

My server sends all new members an HTML email verification email. The problem is even my own email provider regsiters it as SPAM and sends it to the trash can before it reaches my PC. Why is this and how can I prevent it.

Thanks all.
Sam

It could be because most spam is sent as HTML mail, and a basic filter might just send all HTML mail to the trash. Probably not much you can do but you could try sending the message to the provider and ask them why it's being rejected.

Is it absolutely necessary to send them as HTML e-mails? You should try sending text e-mails and see if they are still getting rejected, if they are then your webhost did something bad that the isps don't like.

HTML emails are especially problematic with free clients such as Hotmail and Yahoo, the easiest fix is to just send plain text.

Does anyone have any true statistics about the benefits of html email / how many people can view it?

I've found suggestions that 60% of users can see html email, but that it has double uptake compared to text... however, this was very generalised. I'm looking for evidence that tells you what kind of uptake to expect...

yes it happens to me too, most of the mail server has this feature. You can take a look at the spam score when you view your email full header. Basically there are many reason why your email is set to spam like the images is not proportion to your text, there are words that when filter by the mailserver will set to spam like, viagra, etc etc.
