I've been working on a new template design for my website, this is in standard HTML and uses a pretty basic structure.

I have made a couple of variations of the template -

With both, I've noticed that when I insert some content in the centre column, that it sometimes resizes the navigation bars either side. I'm not sure how I could stop this from happening? Any ideas?

Also, I would like to maybe move the table and create more room by getitng rid of the space on the left margin. Similar to this kind of thing. Is this possible, I know it is difficult to do this and still have your page viewable in all resolutions without horizontal scrollbars. I was thinking about setting the table to 90% or something similar but I'm not sure if this will mess the navs up.

In my opinion, I think the first is better.

well you could set the columns to 20% each. and the center to 50%. that might help get it fixed

I tried setting the tables within the main table to percent values but it hasnt really worked and things are looking a bit uneven.
