Can someone help me?

I am creating fluid web pages (100% width). Within the pages I have a banner which consists of a photo and a logo. The banner graphic was created at 770 pixels. When i apply the 100% width to the image, of course, the image stretches out and the logo looks terrible. So, i created a large image (1200 pixels) but again, at 100% width, the logo looks bad.

What do you guys do to go around this problem? I want the banner to display at the top of the page and at the width of the page (a100%) for all screens. What do i need to do to keep the image quality?

thanks. Unfortunately, the site is not on the web but on the intranet and we don't have access to a public Inet.

But, the image is 1000 width and 124 height. The banner consists of two graphics. To the right, the logo on a white background. That graphic is about 1/7 of the entire graphic. to the left i have the photo of the exterior of a building.

When i apply the 100% width to the image, the image is stretched ad the photo of the exterior of the building does not look bad. however, the logo looks terrible.

add a background image through css which would tile to the sides of the banner so that there is no empty space and you dont have to stretch the image. Check out the image below which would clarify what i am trying to say.
