Putting text on an image ?

Hi, I went to great lengths to apply text to an image, using code, only to discover I could do it easily using ACDSee, which came with windows xp. Something went wrong with my ACDSee, it kept locking up every time I tried to use it, so I removed it from my computer. Then when I tried to download it again, it did not have the text feature, and I had to pay for it, so it went too. Does anyone know where I can find some software (freeware) which I can use to add text to images ? I don't need photoshop, I use Picasa to do my resizing and cropping. Thanks for the forum, Mickmac

ACDSee with XP ? I don't think so.

Try GIMP. It's free.

Another good free one is Irfan View ... give it a Google, you can read about it before you download.

you can use "Paint" its crap but its ok to right on images with or you could download a free trial version of Macromedia Fireworks or Adobe Fireworks or Adobe Photoshop or Corel Paint Shop Pro!

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I downloaded Paint.net, and it's great. I have never used an image editor before, but I found some good tutorials and have already made some logos etc. I made a logo, and saved it into "my pictures", and then I put it into the "assets" list of my websites admin. The logo won't show when I tried to use it on the website, because there is a # sign in the file name. How do I remove the # sign ? Is there a way to edit the image location ? http://www.lannacharm.com/files/1/0001/0607/assets/LOGO%20#1
