Interesting discussion. I have been using JASC PaintShop Pro for the last 2 years. I am ready to try something new.

I heard that Photoshop was pretty good. I will try to get my hand on a copy and try it. Stay tuned.

Photoshop is most excellent. You can get a 30 day trial from Adobe's website.

I like Photoshop alot, but I believe that PSP provides the most bang for the buck. Also, I find that PSP is more user-friendly

Photoshop

Not sure how you can compare 2 programs that are at completely different price points.

How can anyone even begin to compare photoshop and paintshop..The sheer amount of features in the photoshop makes it superior to all other editing softwares out there

I'm voting for photoshop, but that's really just because that's the only one that I really know anything about.

It might be better to compare Photoshop ELEMENTS to PaintShopPro - same price point. Both programs have their merits. As a longtime PS user, PSP frustrates me but it can do some things more easily than PS - like it's use of tubes. Yes, you can make brushes in PS, but they do not work like PSP's tubes. In PSP you can load a full-color picture tube and use it with your paintbrush, it's a nice feature.

PSP has come a LONG way in recent revisions and sports a great deal of the same functionality as a full version of Photoshop. If you can't fork out the big bucks for Photoshop, PSP is definitely a viable option with few sacrifices.

I doubt paintshop has a mac version, and that sums up why it's not really for graphic design, just for sticking on a windows machine to use up as much memory as possible so you don't make the error of actually USING the windows machine (any I.T. expert knows, windows machines are for putting in offices and being handled by I.T. illiterates... the word computer is defined in the English dictionary as "Product made by Apple Macintosh and, in recent times, by Sun microsystems. Virtual computers can be created using a strange non-macintosh thing called a PC, wiping the microsoft products from it entirely and installing a slackware Linux installation")
