Photoshop ROCKS. It is so powerful, I have been using it for over 3 years and have yet to really use it to it's full capacity.

I'm surprised that no one's mentioned it yet, but I use the GIMP. It's free software and released under the GNU GPL.

I use it primarily because of its lack of heafty lisence fee and also because of its range of features that come near to those of photoshop. You should note that it runs on *NIX, Windows, and OSX.

If you want more information about the GIMP, go here: http://gimp.org/

Most users who claim that they don't like PSP have not taken the time to actually work with it.

If you don't know how to start a car, you can't comment on it's speed when compared to another. Learn to work with the car and you'll see that there is barely any difference at all.

I voted both. For me, it depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. I find my way around Paintshop faster and get easier things done quickly, but the graphics don't always turn out as crisp as with Photoshop.

Once your graphic editor has spawned its own set of vocabulary (ie--"photoshopping"), you know it's good.

I like PSP 7, PSP 8, and Photoshop (I have 7) all equally.

I used to do most in PSP 7.. it was easy for me, I learned on it. I could do fantastic things with it. I learned on it because it was cheap. I wonder why it's not bigger. I can do so many things.. Ok, I'm getting repetitive..

I just got PSP 8 (way too expensive upgrade.. so uh.. hee hee, yup.. ok you may think I'm wacky and not get what I'm saying.. anyway).. OMG it's fantastic! I feel like I know how to use most things already, but it's a step towards the feel of PS, so it makes me feel more comfortable using that, too!

I can use all thee programs on one graphic, like I did last night.. they all have their advantages.. The graphic I made last night, I used some PS filters.. ooh! It looked great! I could link to it here, if I'm allowed to?

I definitely use PSP 8, 7 or both for most graphics, now.. But photoshop has definite advantages..

I say they're all equal. But I hate it when people knock ma baby PSP.

i use PSP simply because i cant afford PS!!

all the really good graphics that i see on the net are designed with PS... its quite rare to find something really decent made with PSP that can compare with someone's work in PS....

i also use PSP becoz its simpler... i downloaded a trial of PS but never really got round to use it coz i was busy at the time... (lol) but wen i did use it...it was quite scary and a bit daunting lol

i think u should start with PSP if u want to get into designng graphics, and once you have learned PSP you will be able to get to grips with PS a little easier

just my 2 cents :P

I used PSP several years ago. Its a great program. However, Photoshop has won. I find it a lot more user friendly and easier to use.

Photoshop and Dreamweaver are always open on my computer 24/7

I like Photoshop personally, but I have been using it since version 4. I tryed PSP just to see how it was and wasn't really that impressed. I'm sure most of it was because Photoshop is what I have always used though.

I prefer PSP over PS because I like editing the images for the web. PSP 8 is little bit crude then psp7

Photoshop wins Hands down. Photoshop is by far the best Image software Made Yet in my eyes. Nooffence to PSP loversw but PS OWNS!

And the answer to the dude who asked how to shrink Pics is:

1.Open your Picture.
2.Select The part, or Full Picture that you are Shrinking (Easiest to use your rectangular Marquee tool and selct picture)
3.Click Edit>Free Transform
4.Use the top corner arrows to shrink it

Tell me if this helps !!!

I use Macromedia Fireworks out of the three options. Came along with the Studio suite.
