Edit a .swf file

Hi,
I have a flash template. It is linked to a .swf file. I am new to flash i dont know anything about it. I have a idea about website designing. Can someone please tell me how to edit a .swf file. I want to change some text which is written in it.

Hi nidhika,

you edit the .fla file and then export to a .swf format. If you have the .fla, it's that file that you should be editing.

a .swf is the compiled version of a flash file which can not be edited
as gringo said u need the .fla file to change anything

You can download SWF decompilers. One off the top of my head is Sothink SWF decompiller

a .swf file is an extension of a software called flash, to edit such file you can convert i believe the file to a .fla, which may be edited with flash

hi,
i was trying to edit .swf file, i was the tips been posted, then i tried to download http://www.swf-kit.com/swftofla-decompiler.html link, tried to convert the .swf file to .fla file, but i was strucked up there, i was unable to find the fonts in that converted files

, could any one hepl me in making in successful? i dont have much idea abt the macromedia flash Mx 2004. i have that on the system..
so plz guide me with the necessary instructions

Hi,

Actully you dnot need any swf decompiler to edit the .fla file. They are all superfluous to do your work. There is a tool called swf quicker(google it please), with it you can edit the .swf directly. It is very convinent to edit swf, and to make some shape/image tween. View here: http://www.sothink.com/product/swfquicker/index.htm

For edit swf file without source code you can use free tool named SwiX
http://swixkit.com

It provides low-level xml view for edit swf.
With SWiX you can open any SWF file in XML format, modify it with a handy preview mechanism and save it as SWF or SWiX file.

For example, change text, font, font size, ciolor, framerate, tune up presentations/banners.
http://www.swixkit.com. There is a sample availabel at their site.
I have succefuly changed text and url of my website swf banner recently using swix tool). Try it.

This tool is only free for personal use. You can't use it for any commercial websites you are working on.
