Paint Shop Pro Vs Photoshop

Paint Shop Pro is cheaper compared to Photoshop but I would like to know the difference in terms of quality of designs, user-friendliness.
The latest PSP can pretty much do anything that you can do using Photoshop with their upgrades and improvements.

What do you think?

Hello WebmasterDiaper,

I am a PSP user for many years, the PSP Community is now using both graphic softwares (Photoshop and PSP), along with others. As far as Photoshop user friendliest, if you aren't new to any graphic software, you shouldn't have too much trouble understanding Photoshop, a beginner yes, but that would be with any graphic software.

PSP is a very capable all purpose graphics tool, and with vector and raster capabilities makes it ideal for a "jobbing" designer or personal use.

PSP is more user-friendly than Photoshop

Corel one is the best to manipulate photos and create images from scratch

I have used both for years but in terms of "ability" I would have to side with Photoshop. That and I enjoy the streamlined look of PS better.

If you ever plan to be a graphics designer, go with Photoshop. It's pretty much the industry standard for designing and manipulating images.

I've used both but prefer PhotoShop due to there being WAY more tutorials and books on its use.
Having said that there is also a big price difference.

But if you are serious about a career in print or web design, PhotoShop is the industry standard software.

have been using PSP for over a decade. Though I admit that I am partial to the older versions pre-Corel, I won't give up yet. I tend to flip back and forth between several versions of PSP on my computer, and I think that even if I bought the latest Photoshop I'd still use PSP.

In early September 2011, I have been getting offers to upgrade my image software Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Ultimate to the next version X4. I just got version X3 though! They're offering all kinds of freebies to go with the upgrade, but this year I might just have to wait it out for the next upgrade.

I started in PSP, learnt a lot, but found PS to have more tuts for a lot of different tasks. Pricewise the comparison is astounding, so look at the potential features of each and truly consider what you will be doing within the programme in a few years.

I shouldn't say this but I've been using Paint for years to do my graphics for myself and others. Of course they are small logos, avatars, or small banners not to exceed 1000pxx300px but just sayin' no time to learn the layers. Would love to, but did not spend the money on the software and have been doing just fine without it.

Photoshop is the industry standard - It is definitely the better option even if it is more expensive. There is just more power and functionality with it. There are also more tutorials for it online.

Yes, Paint Shop Pro in cheaper than Photoshop. However the features and benefits of Photoshop outshine the cost of it. Take it from statistics, more experts trust Photoshop than the rest of the competitor softwares.
