Wondering what type of effects could I use in CS4 to obtain pics like these? I'm new to photoshop and I'm working on my first site for my microwelding business. Started using Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4 last week. I really like the design of this particular site. Is it a good example to go off of, or am I trying something to difficult?

That's just a standard stroke around those images/fonts.

The item above the I uses 2 layers of gradients and bevel which can be found in the layer-effects window.

You need to play with the effects panel / - gradients and strokes.

SJTi uses stroke/inner shadow and probably inner glow depending on the global lighting but you'll know what I'm talking about if you open up the layer effects. You just need to experiment with the values.

If you wish to emulate this website then I think you are not out of your scope - for this website is rather basic (in a nice way).
