Ok, so obviously you can tell by this question that I have 0 graphics experience, but what is the best way to change the color of a png image. Basically I have a new template and would like to change the color scheme but everything is done in background images, if that makes any sense.

There are a number of ways to do that, easiest would be to pull it into Photoshop and use a hue/saturation adjustment layer until you get the colors you want. That's just one method.

If you have the psd file(which sometimes comes with the template) AND you have photoshop, you can open the psd file and change all the colors that way.
OR
As LadynRed said, open it in Photoshop or gimp and try to either adjust the color hues, etc. that way or do a select with the magic wand and it may grab that whole section for you and then you can choose any color you'd like.
OR
Get Gimp or inkscape and recreate that shape!(the best route in the long run IMO) That is an easy task in any type of graphic program and a this project seems like good place to start learning one.

good luck

Ok, thanks. I'm going to try and download GIMP. It looks like it is free, is that right? Do they have a good tutorial or do you have one to recommend?
