I'm making some changes on my site that is going to open up my top header... and I need to do something with that. I plan on making my logo bigger, so maybe I should just make a logo/header that is much wider than just the plain logo?

any ideas?

Hello, SagaLore!
Just looked over your site. A nice set of colors and design is also OK. You may consider spicing up things a bit - put some color on a scrollbar, too (look to the right!). It is easy: add about 10 lines with color codes to your css.
Logo. It's about square in form and repeats text on the right (or vice-versa). Maybe leave it in the same position and make a new design same size as standard banner (468x60) and eliminate text on the right. I didn't fully get meaning of '.. open up my top header..' Maybe you can upload your new design to some server and send link?

oh geez! That would explain why I haven't received any replies to this thread. LOL Okay, here is what I meant to show everyone:

www.hawgbuster.com/nextversion

That is my current progress on the site. That's what I get for posting while half asleep... I forgot the link in some other forums as well.

why dont you design a bigger logo but keep enough room in your header for banners and stuff.

since your site says bait, you can design a logo that looks like fishing bait and but hawgbuster.com on it. It will look slick

anywhoo, the colors are nice. yellow + black is a good combination

I'm glad you like the colors. It's the type of color combo that some seem to love, and some seem to hate.

I won't put banners in the header anymore. I tried that, it wasn't successful. Over a few months we got maybe 12 visitors in through the exchange, but about 46 people left through it. Now if we were just a vendor and/or bass fishing info site, I would do it. But Hawgbuster is a manufacturer and this is the online representation of their company.

A fresh (and bigger) logo will definitely help. There's one logo I've seen with a largemouth jumping out of the water with a lure in it's mouth (I know you've seen that), but you can't use that one.

So, along that lines, but different.......what about the words Hawg Buster in the shape of a stylized bass with a lure hanging out? The water line could be the words Bait Company. And definitely make it larger than the present logo.

I've never really looked for one, but that's the first forum I'm seen on Bass fishing. Cool! We got another one on the board that likes fishing.

Will you be incorporating your present store into this site? IMO, it would do better as being together.

yes i get what you mean, but it doesnt hurt to make a little money to pay for hosting and domain registration and to get a little extra profit

well since you arent going to use that space for banner space then make a bigger logo and make it look cool

The trickiest part is once I come up with a few logo designs, is to get the owner to agree to use one of them and slowly transition out the plain one he uses on all the packaging and letterhead.

There actually are quite a few fishing forums out there, once you get involved into this online fishing stuff you realize how extensive it is. I'm trying to add sticky content to the site so visitors come back, and the forum was a start. Nobody is signing up on it though.

Yes I'm currently working on a new storefront, javascript based, that will be completely integrated into the product pages as well as a catalog page, which then sends checkout info to 2checkout.com for processing. The AddMe.com store is a piece of junk but I needed it for the SSL at the time...

The Owner pays for the host space.

Yes cool is what I want! There are some fishing-product sites with awesome logos and/or header graphics but I'm no graphic artist.
