Hi all -

I primarily use photoshop cs3 when making banners and the like but most of my text in those banners tends to look a little fuzzy. Is there either a) a better program that will easily and with one step resolve this problem or b) a way to resolve it in photoshop? I'm willing to jump through some hoops to make it happen - I just don't know what they are.

OK - confession time. I don't usually know which to use. I jump back and forth between them. Although I would guess from your question that there is a right answer to this - lol!

Well, not really a 'right' answer. The answer is - whatever gets you the cleanest looking text . I tend to use Smooth and Crisp more often than the others. Depends on the font and the application.

Set it to smooth, should sort it out. Either that or improve the quality when saving

Generally if you adjust the anti-aliasing settings you can make them very clear or "fuzzy" as you said... Generally I have mine on smooth, I believe.

If your text is smaller than 12pt and has serifed font, then go for "sharp" instead of "smooth" otherwise the text will look all bleary.

one other thing you can try too if it's still not working great is make the text and banner twice the size and set your anti-alising as normal (say smooth), after saving normally, then save as a tif

then working on the flattened tif (don't forget saving as will mean that you still have your original .psd) simply resize the image to half the size - in effect halving the amount of anti-alias you have and making the outlines a little cleaner.
