I just wonder what is the % of cracked photoshop amongst all licensed versions.

I tend to think that Photoshop is even more pirated than windows.
At the time I was working in a repair shop, virtually every comp. that passed in my hand had photoshop installed.
Once, a client even told me he used it just to resize photos !

OK, you should know by now that Photoshop is the way to go but for "simple" and "easy to use" (resizing, adding text to pictures, color, etc.)...........

I know, I know...it's so old school but I like its ease of use..I had to buy my copy on Ebay for $10 (they don't sell it anymore) and it does its magic...good stuff!

Photoshop would have to be the most popular and the most pirated but it is the most widely used.

I use Adobe Creative suite a ton, in particular (Photoshop, InDesign, ImageReady, Illustrater).

I also use Flash, Bryce (crazy 3d art).

I have, and use Photoshop CS2, but I like to find programs out there that do the same things for less (or free) which is why I started using open source programs like GIMP.

I do agree that Adobe products are pirated almost more than Windows, which is saying quite a lot.

Photoshop, because everybody uses it.. I sometimes use the gimp, but to hell with that tool..

Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm fooling around with flash and maybe even fireworks, but I don't know much about them or how they work.

I'm a big fan of Photoshop for most graphics work, although I'll occasionally use Fireworks or Illustrator, depending on the format that the finished product is going to be in. Photoshop is great for web mockups, which is most of what I do with graphics software, and it is also great for adjusting the light levels in photos I take.

I think that most people don't bother using gimp or other open source graphic editors since they realize that they don't have as much support and communities like photoshop

I have to disagree with that statement. I know Lots of opensource softwares that not only have a very active support forum, but also have features in their software that others Don't.

Photoshop is over rated & became the standard due to the large number of users generated through their Multi Billion dollar marketing / Advertising campaign. The majority of the Photoshop users have illegal hacked versions they didn't even pay for

Even though they have an illegal version, they still count towards the total number of users. Pretty sad.

I'm a Vector designer myself & stated before that I am not an adobe user. I am a loyal Serif Software user. However, I have the OpenSource INKSCAPE on my design unit as well. I use inkscape for file format conversions. In a nut shell, I'll export either a .Wmf or .Pdf lines/paths vector from my primary software, import it to INKSCAPE, then export it as: .Eps / .Ps / .Svg / .Emf / Etc.. Etc.. & More Vector formats. Thus insuring that my client can fully edit the design in the future no matter what software they own

INKSCAPE has an AWESOME support forum & several users / developers that have branched off & started additional forums for support. This is just one of many examples of an opensource software with outstanding support.

Just my 2 cents

I think Tripy said it in a nut shell. Matter of fact, 90% of the people I've talked to looking to get into the design field for the first time get unlicensed copies of photoshop & or Illustrator from Torrents, Thinking that by owning the overly marketed software it will somehow magically make them rich.

The sad reality is that any software that offers a free trial & has a place for an unlock code, WILL attract the kiddie hackers looking for a quick buck.

So with that said, if you blend a multi Billion dollar marketing campaign along with unlimited trial versions & hacker bait - You get an industry standard (Simply due to the number of users - No matter how they acquired it).

I guess I just don't like monopolizing corporate mongoloids like adobe & focus on helping the smaller software companies with equal or superior products to compete.

Face it, without competition & choices, everyone would be driving a white Honda civic (Base model) & NO other colors or options would be available. Sounds pretty boring to me

Ok, I know I can get long winded sometimes, so I'll cut it short. Don't forget to help support the smaller companies
