I've used both. It just depends on what you are used to I guess. I find Photoshop easier but I have been using that for so long it's just not worth switching over.

Adobe PhotoShop Will Always Be The best
I'm not sure I quite understand how you can say PhotoShop (being a Raster/Paint software) will always be better than Fireworks/illustrator (Being a Vector graphics software dealing with Points/paths).

They are Both used for totally different things in the graphics profession.

Well isnt fireworks no more anymore anyway its now become illustrator i believe as adobe purchased macromedia for a healthy some of money. But still photoshop all the way
(Note: the Adobe website states that Fireworks has been discontinued & will NOLONGER be upgraded & or supported. They clearly recommend Switching to Illustrator for further vector needs. -- So in a sense, yes, Illustrator took over Fireworks, Basically Adobe bought out the competition & is now migrating the users to illustrator slowly, eventually weeding out Fireworks all together.)

Photoshop is NOT a VECTOR software, so you can't compare it to FireWorks... 2 Totally different applications.

I think it would make more sense to ask if people prefer working with Raster/Paint (Using DPI - Dots per Inch) or working with vectors (Lines/Paths)..

Being a 2D Vector creative designer myself, I of course chose Vector softwares.

I've used both, but prefer photoshop. Though I still hate how you have to select layers before you can edit them! (unlikely illustrator)
