Hi guys, I'm looking for someone to re-design in the interface for my site www.bidders.co.za

I feel its somewhat cluttered and would like to make it both attractive and proffessional. This project is for someone who wont expect payment but may add the project to his/her portfolio and you will also get free advertising on the site. If you design is to our liking, you might get a few $'s for it though (negociable).

The logo would stay the same (or made better) thats your choice but the overall layout and design should be better and have a more "pro" look to it.

Since it will be a commercial site, this would be an excellent addition to any portfolio showcase.

Too big a project for me, I would say, but I would get rid of the local weather and news first if I were you.

Unless you're a news or weather company, I wouldn't have that on the homepage. How do you intend to get money from the website? Do you need advertising as well?

That's just my thought.

The site works as a window for sellers and buyers and takes a cut of whatever is sold on the site, I have advertising company's who will be handling the marketing for the site.

What I generally need is just a new layout (cleaner) and more visually appealing. Thanks for the reply though.

You might want to reconsider the no pay. To re-design a website is more tedious than to come up with one from scratch. I don't know anyone who would do this much work for free. At least not with the professional outcome your looking to gain.

You're right about the clutter. The home page would look better with a more simple design.

It's not that we mind paying really, its more a case of "we've been let down by previous designers in the past"

What would you estimate a project like this would cost?

To be honest, its not really the graphics work I'm too worried about, its more the actual layout of the site, the graphics I can do myself once the structure is there, I also have friends that will pitch in and help. I'm really looking for someone that specialises in layout design and someone who can create a good non tabled 3 column css layout for us and implement it into the site.

Otherwise we may just keep it like it is and just clean things up a bit. Either way though, something will need to be done.

lol, because of the name. I understood that you were looking for someone to 're-design' your site, meaning the layout. This is why I said you may want to reconsider the no-pay, that's a lot of work. If it were just graphics I would have been happy to help out but like you said, you have that covered.

Personally, I wouldn't pay to have someone re-design that site. You have a good thing going. Good colours & layout appearance.

I think it's the content that needs to be re-arranged. Move some off of the home page and to a different area. This would take care of some of the clutter.

Add some graphic content in the cleared space integrating the colour scheme. I think it would look good above your scrolling items. This would add some more visual appeal.

I see a lot of little things you can do to improve your site and make it look more professional looking but it has nothing to do with the layout. If you really wanted to change it, not pay much and see the design before investing money, I would suggest a good template.

yes i not a graphic designer my self, but i can assure you wether someone wants to re-design your sign or make a new one from scratch you will not find many that will do it for free. And as grapfix said if your looking for the pro look that you are i would consider a web designer to do the whole site.
