for my hw i have to take my drawin scan it edit it in ps and place it in illustrator and color it. when i have it in illustrator, usin live trace, the paths of my drawin has a lot of little pencil marks around it. i was wonderin in ps wat is the best way to clean it up instead of usin the eraser tool

Is this a line drawing in pencil or is it rendered/hatched in any way? If it's just a line drawing the eraser tool is fine. OTW you may want to experiment with filters like blur and sharpen, using select for certain areas if necessary. Also if you're using the eraser use the eyedropper to select from your scanned image to use as your background color and it will save you some headaches.

Here is one way to approach it:

Duplicate your sketch layer so you're not working on the original.

If the sketch is pen or pencil on white paper, then you can utilize the brightness and contrast or curves and levels adjustment layers to make the black really black. It may help to scan it as B&W as opposed to color.

Once you have really dark lines, use your wand tool to select the white background areas and delete it. You should be left with your dark lines on a transparent background.

Add a white filled layer below your sketch.
Zoom WAY in, if there are stray artifacts outside your sketch lines, you can use the eraser tool.
