Hey Guys and Gals!

Contest end Date: Minimum of two weeks from today and no longer than Jan 05 2007.

Type of design: New Style Template design. I am looking for a possible Web 2.0 type feel but you can submit anything you think you would like to see here.
See for one example of 2.0 style websites: http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/current-style.cfm

Most of the work will involve the design of the header (logo, navigation and link, banner spot etc). Be creative and have fun.

Color scheme: I'll leave that up to you. Anything is allowed but I usually prefer shades of blue. Must be easy on the eyes.

Prize: In the past I spent $1000+ on a new design for WT but turned out something I just wasnt crazy about and at the moment am no longer using. I think the auction route is usually the better way to go because we can choose from multiple submissions. I am not going to fork over that kind of money this time but instead offer $75 to a selected winner + a text link "Design by: yourcompanyname" in the footer for a year (plus announcement thread linking to your website). Over the months we might send a few new clients your way. There is the chance that none of the submissions are something i want to change to (hopefully not). In this case I'll reward $75 paypal to one winner regardless of use.

Please watermark all submissions.

Yea. Basically the whole skin BUT you don't have to change everything such as the little buttons. You can incorporate parts of the old design into the new one. Fixed or Liquid is up to you as well. I'm always flexible. If it's really good and I use the design I'll throw in some nice cash bonuses to the winner. I can give a lot more input after seeing different mockups...

Hi My Schroeder, thanks for running another contest.
Is this one purely the graphics for the site or do you require coding too?
Do you expect a fairly different layout or would that be mostly the same?
Thanks,
CBG.

1. Coding the design is not required.

2. I'm looking for something more original but you can use existing parts of the current design if you would like.

I am very excited about this contest. I just need to know if you want a forum design or a front page design.

I'm not looking for specific new graphics but rather a complete new homepage design (with all graphics included but as mentioned you can use graphics from the current design into the new one).

If I understand your question right we want a forum design using webmaster-talk.com (some minor tweaks might be needed to implement the new design into the show posts and show threads pages).

I know I'm kind of vague in these answers. I'm curious as to what you guys can come up with...

Have just a quick question - will a simple graphic reproduction of the new design be sufficient, or would you perfer to see a html representation? (I know that the html mock-up would provide more look and feel)

Well, I don't want you to put to much work into coding an HTML representation unless you know you are on the right track towards something we will consider using, so I would say a graphic reproduction initially so we can tell you if your on the right direction.

Ok since you said we can use the current template as a base, you think it would be better if you posted a media kit with your logo etc. I am working on two designs one with your logo and one an original. Of course I don't think I can beat the current logo. It looks fantastic.

I've tried to include as many forum elements as I could think of however I probably have missed something. This layout would have to be static rather than liquid however I have taken a gamble by making it 900 pixels (assuming very few people in our field use 800x600 anymore). I suppose it could easily be fixed to a lower or higher resolution though.

I have tried to take as many suggestions from your link on web 2.0 designs as possible however I found it hard to balance whitespace when a forum is normally rather busy for the eyes. Either way, any suggestions you can make would be helpful.

Nice work Republikin
P.S. - I clicked on the thumbnail link, to see a bigger view of the design, and there it was on top, a banner advertising a dating site. At first i thought it was part of the design )))))

And Tim - fantastic idea to have a website designed by the users

I can`t wait to see more cool designs!
