If you don't agree with the prizes offered, don't enter.

Lol that's not the point and I don't if I think whats being offered is unfair hun, what really bugs me is we lose good designers to other forums because the offers are not here, it's all about helping each other out and getting a fair price for the hours we spend on designs. And as I said, I do do the odd pro-bono work to help people out .... I just think we would attract better design contests and more competition ... maybe some guidelines as to what going rates are or a range for specific designs, alot of people don't know what to pay it could be useful as a guideline from the lowest to higher price ranges just a thought, the idea is to get feedback ... not don't enter lol

I do have to agree with Woosh on this. I enter just about any contest to try to make a buck or two with Holiday costs and all, and I do it to learn and practice.

However if WT wants to grow and compete they have to provide an atmosphere that both CH and designer are confident and comfortable in.

I think a suggestion of going rates would be good. I dont know if it is a good idea to force people to pay a minimum though. Maybe in our rules we can add some suggested prize amounts??

I just think CH's need to be fair as to what they expect to get for what they offer to pay

Yes I don't agree with the offers in CH threads to do work for a pittance lol, it makes it harder for the rest of us to gain work lol as some of us do this for a living lol

I can see both sides really i understand how much time goes into a logo but on other hand i have a site that is free to use and to be honest i would not want spend alot on a logo espically if the site was not making a profit i think a guidline would be good to have but on the other hand i guess it all depends on what people want another good way to inprove this would be who ever open a competition pay half the money to this site that would stop people starting competition and then not reply also once a competition ends i think it should be moved from the competition forms so you only have competition that are running in once

Another member brought this up and I agree with him. I want to get other opinions before I change the rules.
What does everyone think about adding a rule that says that members must post their design entries in the forum, and not submit their entry through a PM?
I think this would help keep things a little more fair. I know some other forums I visit have this rule.
Discuss!

I agree, all entries should be posted in the forums.

You guys really have to start enforcing the rules though.. about 1 in every 10 contests actually follow the guidelines... I think if the guidelines aren't met the contest should be closed/locked.

Yup I agree Captor of Sin theres a few comps that have needed dealing to and the contrst should be locked if things are not right. As for designers PMing CH's with entries for comps.... why ...... cmon guys you know who you are and it's not really fair play is it??????? Comes down to morals really ... and what are the consequences for those who continue to use PM to try gain an advantage?

It really does come down to morals. It will be hard to enforce a no PMing rule. I just would hope if we had it, people would follow it.

Also, if you notice something that seems wrong in a contest or you think a thread should be closed for some reason, let me know.

Angele please take a look at threads started, where we place our work, and they never answer after that..... some measures need to be taken. I don`t want people start contests, see some ideas, then make their own, stealing our ideas. Because it`s very easy to recreate any artwork, despite the watermark, you all know that. And i bet some are doing it.
PS: who made webmaster-talk logo?
---> this is a stock image it happens to have it on my computer, and today i found it LOL.
Please enlighten me, i want to know who was the designer who "made" that logo.

I have been trying to contact contest holders about their contests when they seem to just abandon us. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I wish there was more I could do, but all I can do is PM them and email them with the address they provided.

Im not 100% sure who designed the new layout, but I think it was genelmx. I agree, those speech bubbles are similar....but they arent exactly the same. This is where things get tough. How do you judge when someone copied, or when someone just used a similar concept???

I`m just looking at that artwork, and after looking real good , i can tell - LOL .I`m not saying anything, i just wanted to know, that`s all.

= Can you place an icon in front of their names saying "not to be trusted"?That would work

This is getting ridiculous. In the last two weeks i've been gyped in two contests... something seriously needs to happen here... the minimum payment suggestion is looking really good right now... it's at the point now where i'm not going to bother entering anymore for fear of getting shafted.
