Ok, I've gathered some opinions on these designs.
mvk7: I liked yours a lot and I really like that font except for the 'M' which throws off the flow. However I was told the logo is too abstract.
MrNova: Yours was liked the most from the people I asked although I personally like the depth of mvk7's more. Mostly though yours showed me that I don't actually want to re-use the existing logo. It's been the way it is for so long that seeing it any other way just looks wrong to me. I feel like I wasted your time by asking for a re-use of the old logo and I'm sorry about that.
gooddesigner: Everyone seemed to generally like your design except for the horizontal lines which I was told made it hard to read, and a couple of people said they didn't like the arch above the laptop because they didn't know what it was for. I personally would prefer there not be a computer in the logo because I feel it limits it's usefulness in other areas.
One of the guys I asked to look at the designs sent me an idea he had that I think was pretty good, shown below. He's not a graphic designer but I thought the idea of a cross-hairs type logo was neat.
Maybe someone has an idea to run with that. If so consider it to be the ability to home-in on a problem, not actually targeting something specific if that makes any sense. Also, don't think the cross-hairs idea is "the one", it's just an idea. Please throw out any other ideas you have as well.
