Poster Help! Need Some Input

Hey, I'm currently designing a poster to promote a competition we are having, I've basically completed the poster only thing is I'm not sure its attention grabbing enough.....our main focus is bands but we don't want the old classic and sometimes cheesy looking posters you would normally find in a band prac room/studio....

here's what we've got....if anyone has any idea's please help me out.....unfortunatly I can't pay...but your help would be great....ANY COMMENTS PLEASE

It needs a black border.
The white font just isn't working, pick something less popular. Also, the text is a bit hard to read, either make the background picture darker, or make the text black.

Thanks.....so you think it'll stand out compaired to all the usual stuff one would find posted on a wall? apart from what you have suggested...

What kind of bands are you promoting this too? Because to me it does not really say, "music".

Yeah, perhaps some intruments or cd's in the background instead of the gray you have now. They would have to be gray also, but it would add a little variety.

I can't read it you need a better color layout for sure.

Dark text on a light backround or vice versa.

I would'nt take a second look at it the way it is now because
I just plain and simple can't see the text to read it

shadow your text so people can read it and you might want to add a chick or somthing because that does grab attention. my2cent

put the text in dark grey at the top of the poster
