Caduceus, take two!
A modernized caduceus is reaching out to touch something with his left "hand" -- that is, the tip of his left "wing" -- towards what to the viewer would be the upper right corner of the frame. He's not pointing or grabbing, he's reaching out at a 45 degree angle in the hope of being able to just touch. Caduceus should be in a single color -- HTML #33CCEE -- with no shading, shadow, or gradients.
Recommendation: start with something like this:
http://www.healthline.com/images/icon_caduceus.gif
...and put it into a credible action stance. Back arched; his left "hand" reaching out to touch; his right wing furled, as an appendage that becomes unimportant at a particular moment would be.
No text. Computer drawn, smooth and bold lines.
The image should convey grace and health. It can be extremely stylized, with a minimum of lines.
We'll ask the winner to provide the image to us in two versions: light blue (#33CCEE) on white, and black on white. We'd need the original high res file for later manipulation. The image should be roughly 500 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall.
We'll initiate the $60 payment to the winner via PayPal on Friday. If no suitable design is submitted, we (obviously) won't pick a winner, won't use any of the entries, and may re-stage the contest at a later date.
Color Scheme: One Color: Light blue (#33CCEE) on white. No gradients or shading. Type of Design: Logo Desired Dimensions: 500 pixels wide by 600 pixels tall Desired Filetypes: PNG Prize: $60 How prize will be delivered: PayPal End Date: Thursday October 8 2009, 5 PM Pacific Time

Eh, I'll give it one more shot. No lines in this, only shapes, and I'm basing this on a sketch you put up in the other thread, since you haven't put up any more.
BTW, if you study how birds move, they don't fold one wing and extend the other out fully like that; they put the other wing out for balance.

I'm grateful again for Tim's work. But again, I'd point out that the best thing to base the logo on is something like this:

Thank you.

Here is a really simple one. The lines can be thinned and wings adjusted.

Glad you're appreciative, but before I devote another second to this (my patience, though long, is still limited) let's clarify a couple points:

The link (which is not a caduceus, but a rod of Asclepius, and an extremely poor quality pic) you gave is composed of nothing BUT lines, and what you didn't like about the last version is? Too many lines.
So:
One serpent or two?
Lines or shapes?
We can't copy the pic you've given, or make a derivative work from it; that's copyright infringement. Just so you know. Also, had you hired a graphic designer, by about this point his price would have easily doubled. No disrespect intended, I'm simply offering some good advice, because it's not looking like this contest is going to be a "go" for you. I truly hope for you that I'm wrong, but I usually call 'em pretty close.

The most promising so far is from "katesrobyn." It has some things that don't work for us -- it has a shadow, the wings aren't filled in, and it doesn't look quite Caduceus enough -- but it's the best so far.
Thank you.

So, shapes then?
Well, I've tried to get you to better communicate your preferences, seeing as how none of us here are psychic so far as I'm aware. That is, in part, my job, to help contest holders have successful contests. Blowing off my very simple questions will not help anyone meet your requirements. Good luck to all participants, though. Personally, I should have seen the writing on the wall from the last contest. I'm out.
At least I can say one of your rejects has already sold for more than twice what you're offering, so thank you.

This remains very much an open contest, and I look forward to seeing more great work. Katesrobyn's contribution is quite good, and has taken us all up a notch. Thank you!

Hailey, the simplicity of your design is wonderful. But the pose may be a bit off. Some might think that cacuceus is waving to an audience while exiting a stage. While no one is obligated to do anything -- this is a contest, after all! -- I'd very much like to see a different take on this by you. Retry or not, I'm grateful for your work. Thank you!

Could I ask what "feeling" your caduceus has? The one I submitted has a happy/exhilarated "feeling" while lovely katesrobyn has a strong/fierce look with it's swift motion and bending body. I am just wondering what angle/pose you are thinking. For a pose do you want him flying, bending over, twisting backwards, spinning, crouched, facing the crowd, sideways, ect?
I hope this makes sense. ")

Hailey, great question. Caduceus is striving. He's striving to touch something promising, something that will give him health. If he had a facial expression, it might look like that of a sprinter moments before winning a 100 yard dash race.
As for stance, Cadudeus is standing on his tippy toes, and is really stretching out to touch with one "hand," that is, the tip of one of his wings. The other wing should be perhaps relatively limp and furled, as one might expect it to be at a time when it's not the focus of an exertion.
Hailey, that was a great question. I should have described Caduceus' feeling in my original specification.
Katesrobyn, your first logo remains the most promising of the bunch. The second better says "Caduceus," but loses the elegant simplicity of the first. Perhaps my answer to Hailey's question might inform a new take?
Whatever additional efforts you all choose to take -- or not -- I'm grateful for your work. Thank you!

Freyja, you're welcome to join the contest. However, I must point out that your logo looks too much like a playful cartoon for us. Caduceus should be striving to reach out and touch something, standing on his tip toes. I welcome your participation and thank you for your work!

Here's a new attempt. Small changes could be made after a deal is made. It's shown in black here just to emphasize the form.
Feedback appreciated

JayGun, you requested feedback. Your first is more to our liking than the second, but neither moves us. I would say that katesrobyn's first effort remains the most promising.
Everyone's questions and comments and have helped to refine exactly what we're looking for, which I'll now summarize:
Caduceus is striving to touch something promising, something that will give him health. If he had a facial expression, it might look like that of a sprinter moments before winning a 100 yard dash race.
Cadudeus is standing on his tippy toes, and is really stretching out to touch with one "hand," that is, the tip of one of his wings. The other wing should be perhaps relatively limp and furled, as one might expect it to be at a time when it's not the focus of an exertion.
We want something that is unmistakably Caduceus, but streamlined to Nike Swoosh simplicity. I would recommend starting with something like
http://www.healthline.com/images/icon_caduceus.gif , and putting it into the graceful, striving action pose described above.
Thank you!
