Design a New Thanksgiving Logo for Webmaster-Talk

Hey All,

Awhile back Brian07002 suggested we create some new looks for the forum for the holidays. It took us longer than it should to come to a decision, but we've finally decided it would be a good idea to display different logos for different holidays.

Given the talent we have here it also made sense to have you design the logos.

As the title of this thread indicates we're starting with Thanksgiving. So here's your chance to design a Thanksgiving logo for WT. We'll take submissions until Saturday October 31, 2009. At that point staff will choose a handful and then we'll have everyone here vote for their preferred logo from that handful.

The winning logo will be the Webmaster-Talk logo for a few weeks around Thanksgiving. You'll also get a link in the footer of WT to your choice of site (usual forum rules about links apply, ie no adult links, etc) while the logo is live.

Assuming all goes well, we'll continue the idea and have contests for more holidays.

The current logo is 304px x 80px and your entry should work within the overall design of the site. And naturally your entry should make us all think of Thanksgiving.

Here's my concept idea
Ok, I figured I would go ahead & get this started. I replicated the current logo from scratch & hand sketched / illustrated all the added elements to keep it all original. I wanted to focus on keeping the existing site brand as close as possible, so rather than change the entire brand, I decided to make the chat bubbles the holiday spirit. One bubble being the turkey & the other bubble being the pilgrim hunter.
(Note: I used the header background just so you can see what it would look like on it, I can deliver it with or without the background & transparent if needed, as well as various fully layered vector files)

Thanks... I'm just glad I had a little free time to do it, been rather busy this last year & haven't even had time to post much till recently

That is cool Eric. Thanks for getting the contest started too. I knew we had a lot of talented people around here.

Feel free to submit more logos if you want. I don't see any reason to limit this to one per person.

2nd Concept
Ok, I had some more spare time today & figured I would go for a more humorous approach this time. I actually got a chuckle out of it as I was doing it. I laid out the pilgrim on the text & have 3 Turkey's with silverware ready to eat.

(Note: Elements also all hand sketched / illustrated by me)

Here's a suggestion, to put a count-down style banner for lots of holidays, but I think you need to use there banners for this:

Keep the logos coming everyone. I think we'll extend the deadline till October 31st. I'll change it in the first post now. Apparently it will be quicker than thought to add the winning logo to the theme so we have more time to collect entries.

What's the name of the original font?

I'm not sure what font was used in the current logo. You can try something like What the Font to see if they can figure it out.
