Logo/T-Shirt design for pumpkin throwing trebuchet team

As strange as it sounds, I have a team that is designing and building a trebuchet to compete in the national “punkin chunkin” competition in Delaware. Check out http://www.punkinchunkin.com/ for more details, but keep in mind that this is not my site, it is only a reference for you to see what I am talking about.

I would like a logo that I can put on t-shirts and maybe make a 3 ft banner with. Our team name is "American Chucker" so I am looking for something with a patriotic theme to it, but I am open to any idea. I would like the team name to appear on it though.

Thank you for your submission. Based on my request for a patriotic theme, I think this is very nice, but after discussing your design with my team, we are looking for something that is a little more "mean" and a little less patriotic. I apologize for not being more clear initially.

The competition is about pumpkins flying at 200 mph and what we built is more of a Junkyard Chucker. We are looking for something that looks a little more tough and mean rather than so seriously patriotic. It needs to be more fun!

So, with those thoughts, I like the color scheme. Maybe less formal letters and some "tough character" looking projectile flying away from the machine if possible.

Thank you for your submission. I like the design, but we are looking for something that is a little more "mean" looking. The stars give it a bit of a disney feel, rather than the junkyard dog appearance we are looking for. Can you think of anything to make it look meaner. Maybe a tough expression on the flying pumpkin. Although I like the red line idea, I think it looks a lot like the Nike Swoosh. Is there another version of the line that you can use?

Great, that is certainly a move in the right direction. The only thing is that none of us on the team are cops, although most are/were in the military. Is there a way to get rid of the cuffs and badge?

Thanks for your submission. The "gourd and country" line is great and the design is along the lines of what we were thinking. The only thing is that your design looks like it has a catapult and not a trebuchet. It's just a minor difference. I'd appreciate it if you did finish your idea.

Sure thing, I'll post it shortly. Heh, designs like this take me back to my college days, when I'd belt out a T-shirt design for beer money.

This particular one called out to the redneck in me: "You must do this...."
