I am starting a new site and I want to make a logo so I have a good play to start for the graphics. I am not very artistic but I did make something I think will work

http://www.fgtns.com/invforum/style_images/logo.gif

What do you think? It will be in the upper left hand corner of the site. Probably will also have some menus in the upper right to balance out the title bar.

Thanks.

I can't tell if your asking for a logo, or offering to make one. But from what I can see. Well, to be blunt, I not offer any money for them. I see that all you did was get a simple logo and then some font. The first you used beveled font with a shadow and looks the same for the 2ed.

One of the better ways to make a logo, is use shapes, many large company sites use shapes because it works with your basic thinking, and it more easy to understand. Also, you can try useing stock photos, like they have over @ Stock Photos
They have alot that you can get and edit them to make icons with. they also have logos ready made, you can see how alot it not all use just basic shapes to fourm a logo icon.

I am looking for help to make a logo for my new site.

So you are saying just to scrap that idea and start over? In the past I have tried using photos in the background of logos and all it ended up doing is making it look to busy and hard to read. I still need a lot of practice, but this is a good way to learn.......I hope

I thought my logo was simple. I just do not seem to understand what makes the difference between a good logo and a bad one.

Can you tell me what was wrong with the one I had? That way I can try to improve it.

I checked out the site, but everything there looked like it was for a business. This is a personal site and I want to have a feeling of fun with it.

Thanks for the help.

Hi, you wanted to know what makes a logo good, here are a few points to consider when making a logo

1. Do not bevel text it just doesnt look good
2. Only use well known smooth fonts ie Tahoma, Arial, Ms Sans serif,
3. Ensure all the elements in the logo hold themselves together eg Your logo could be two logos next to each other.
4. Make sure the logo does something that plain text wouldnt. eg your logo could easily be made with a div tag.
5. Think about how you can integrate text with image without hiding anything.
6. Use primary colours that complement each other ie red, blue and yellow!
6. Most importantly make sure it makes sense.
7. Use photoshop because it is the bees knees!!!!!!! Hint: Try out the blending options this can often make a huge difference.
