Im thinking of using Google Adwords to promote my site. The thing is, it has a recommendation of spending £30 a month.

I dont think im going to need this much as I'm only promoting my small portfolio site. I was thinking of maybe just setting it as £5 per month.

Would this get me many hits do you know?

Google doesnt seem to make it clear how many clicks I would receive for this so i dont really know how it would work.

Google improved their Adsense a lot within the last year but even now it produces a large numbr of invalid clicks. Sometime their number reaches about 40% from the whole traffic sent. your budget is small so you ned to be very effective. I can suggest you to find a web site trageted to your business that would bring some visitors to you.

The question is about adwords and not adsense.

It all depends on the keywords you are using

I actually stopped my campaign with Google Adwords simply because I did not get any new business by having it available.

I set my monthly limit at $30.00 to try it out and see if I would be able to recoup that from new clients signing up for hosting packages. I ended up spending almost $90.

Honestly, unless you get a lot of added revenue from Adwords, then I'd say to stick with it otherwise you're just spending your money for a few extra hits a month, and a few million page impressions on people's pages who are using Adsense.

To me, it's not worth it, and I didn't want to up the monthly budget to try to justify it either =\

Hey just a quick FYI you should definitely try Adwords. It all depends on your keywords and most important your landing page. The other person that mentioned here he didn't get any results can be because a number of different factors. The way the ad is written is crucial to success also - just one example.

Keep in mind that you can turn off the content network if that worries you. I hear people say that the content network is worthless yet over 75% of my income comes from content network sales. You just have to target correctly.

Adwords has so many options available to you and when you think about it you have the potential to reach over a billion people with your product or service. It takes time and skill to get going with Adwords and I would not give up on it so easily smply because your first go at it did not deliver the results you hoped.

This forum is filled with knowedgeable people who can direct you in the right way. The beauty about Adwords is that there is no ceiling to the possibilities for you are dealing with every possibility all the time...(what a person will type into a search box to get what they want).

Exactly, Adam ... that's it in a nutshell. It's tough -- I'm still struggling to "get it right", but it definitely can work for you, not against you. You just have to learn how to work IT right...

That depends on the keywords you select. And believe me $30 may be gone before the end of the day

IF you're just looking for hits, dont' use the search network at all. You can even go with site targetting and pay per thousand impressions if you want. (it's a cheaper route to take).
