hi all, i just started Yahoo PPC, and as well google adwords. Fact is, i very disapointed with the clickthrough and quality of visitors is low. I try to target so called NICHE keyword, and used wordtracker to generate keyword, overture keyword inventory, google keyword search as well. and come out with 10+ keyword, and finally they dont convert well. I read once, a guy invested $150/mth, and get back $800+ in sales.. thats pretty good.

So, how to success with adword or any PPC program??
I really need to know.

In my case I kick the campaign off with a good bunch of keywords, both high volume and long tail keywords... I set up a high CPC in order to be on top and build a strong CTR history (as CTR x max CPC = position), then after the first days I analyse the CPA of each keyword and start dropping the non profitable ones. At the same time, the CPC will start going down as the CTR keeps building. If you kick off with low CPC you might damage your CTR, paying a higher CPC.

If you cannot start with a high CPC in terms of investment, use your business common sense. Go Google Trends, do some test and then build your bunch of keywords.

Find a market that is willing to spend money, keep experimenting with landing pages until they convert well and keep on tweaking them after. Use a lot of specific keywords. Optimize my ads and pages for my keywords, track results, keep what works well and drop, or try tweaking what isn't.

Firstly it sounds like you used the right keyword tools. So thats a good start.

You say you are unhappy with number of clicks and then the conversions you are getting from those clicks.

My first reaction is 10 keywords doesn't seem many but even so there are a few things you can do.

Firstly what type of keyword matching are you using? If you are using broad your ad might be getting displayed for searches that don't really match. Perry Marshall (I think it was one of his talks I heard this at) talks about the guy who was selling Night Stands for lights. His keywords "Night Stands" was getting lots of impressions but few clicks. Then he discovered his ad was being triggered by people using the phrase "one night stands".

In terms of conversions for the visitors you do get, take a good look at your landing page. It's widely considered that you only have about 8 seconds to grab attention. Do your pages do that? Is it clear what they have to do to become a customer?

Just some points for you. I hope they help.
