I have started I new AdWords campaign using a £30 promotional voucher. After I've set everything up, I am getting this msg:

Your ad is not running. Your account has no funds because you have not made a payment.
Please select the 'My Account' tab and click 'Make Payment' to request a confirmation number. Use this number to transfer funds from your bank to your Google AdWords account. Your ad will start running when we receive this prepayment
Make payment now

After the activation fee was deducted I still have £25 left.
Any ideas what went wrong?

Don't get me started! I know that sometimes they give you a good answer but my experience with them is not so good. They are ignoring my messages and in the past they were sending me answers that hardly even touched the problem I was describing to them. That's why I'm looking for help here.
Anyways, despite the "error" message, my advert is showing now.

Now I'm about to explode. I've started a new campaign, everything worked but now I have this msg showing next to every keyword except for 1.

Increase quality or bid £2.75 to activate

No msg from google as to why it's happening. Does anybody here know what's going on?

It sounds like you are going for Competive keywords so basicly every one els is paying more than you, so if thay are saying £2.75 to activate then you will probly will need to put £1 more on top of that to get your ad in a good place.

I had the same problem with the keyword "web hosting" as it was costing me around £3.50 to £5.50, so i gave up in the end as the roi was not good at all.

You could try putting brackets around the keyword and trying again
eg [widgets] exact match
We do this with a lot of competitive keywords and keep our cost per click low.
Also use negative keywords to weed out the keys you do not require
eg:

free
request
fix

etc etc.
