Just wondering if I set my budget to say like 20 bucks amonth, will they only charge me up to 20 bucks? Or will they go over it on purpose or charge me more?

I just don't want to get a bill for like 100 bucks or more

If you set a budget they won't charge you more. If you do reach the budget before the end of the month they'll just stop showing your ads till the next month begins.

not too sound too stupid, but when you pay for adwords, are you paying for search engine placement, or the sponsered links part?

It seems like many sponsered links are like at the far right side of the screen of the search engine.

In yahoo it seems like you can bid according to placement.

I am new to this, I am just trying to use up my free adword credit that I recieved from my web host

Your AdWords campaign has no effect on Google index ranking. Perhaps, that is the very reason we have to pay for AdWords. If you want to be seen quickly, you have to use it and pay. Otherwise you just submit your URL and wait and hope you'll make it into their index at all.

My experience with Google AdWords is EXTREMLY BAD.

You're paying for the "sponsored links" section.

Yahoo! simply put their ads in a different place - in front of all the normal results.

Don't worry, Google are generally very understanding. Just set your daily budget (is there a monthly budget?...) and it won't go over. Keep tabs on it though to make sure it doesn't.

Good luck

Adword won't purposely over charge you. If your CTR (click through rate) and Quality Score are high, Adword will adjust the CPC you will pay to a minimum amount. In fact, Adword is very useful.

You are paying for the "Sponsored Links" part. It's usually on the right side. Sometimes, they are placed on the top of the search engine's result.
